Love Always Finds A Way
Liz walked into the gym of her high school. It looked so different now. Her and Maria had decided to come together. No Max. Just the girls. Besides, Max didn't want her now. She had to move on.
Max noticed Liz the moment she walked in. Her and Maria were laughing and smiling. He had never seen her look so beautiful. His heart ached. He wanted to run over there and scoop her up in his arms and make everything right again. But he couldn't get involved. He couldn't get close. He couldn't fall in love. But he couldn't stop himself.
Liz looked around the gym. Maria was saying something how they both had to move on. How Max and Michael didn't deserve them. Liz wasn't really paying attention. Deep down, she wished that he were here.
The next song came on. It's slowed down the rhythm of the room. Couples joined together as one on the floor. I wish Max was here, Liz thought as she scanned the room. Then their eyes met. They stared at each other silently. But they each knew what they were thinking. Liz turned away and began talking to Maria. She couldn't do this. She had to move on. She couldn't keep waiting for him.
Max sat back down. He shook his head. He had hurt her. He closed his eyes and listened to the lyrics of the song.
Have you ever loved somebody so much
It makes you cry
Have you ever needed something so bad?
You can't sleep at night
Have you ever tried the words?
But they don't come out right
Have you ever, have you ever...
Liz turned her head back towards Max. His head was in his hands and he looked upset. What had she done? She told Maria she would be right back. Maria knew where she was going. Instead of objecting, insisting they had to move on, she said nothing. Her best friend deserved to be happy.
Max lifted his head back up as though he knew Liz was walking towards him. He stood back up and walked towards her.
Have you ever been in love?
Been in love so bad
You'd do anything to make them understand
Have you ever had someone steal your heart away?
You'd give anything to make them feel the same
Have you ever searched for words to get you in their heart?
But you don't know what to say
And you don't know where to start...
Liz's pace quickened. She was practically running. She ran to him and wrapped her arms around him. She felt his strong arms pull her close to him. "I'm so sorry," he whispered in her ears.
"I know, Max. I know."
"Dance with me?"
"Absolutely."
Have you ever loved somebody so much
It makes you cry
Have you ever needed something so bad?
You can't sleep at night
Have you ever tried to find the words?
But they don't come out right
Have you ever, have you ever...
"Liz..." Max began. He looked into her eyes.
"Shhh, Max. I don't want to hear any more apologies. It's okay. You're here now. I missed you so much," Liz interrupted. She knew he felt the same. She rested her head on his chest.
Max pulled Liz's head up and he looked deep into her eyes. She was so beautiful right then. He leaned down. His lips found hers and he kissed her softly. He didn't want this moment to ever end.
