What is Roswell? What, besides a teen-aimed WB program? Emily says it's a groovy show. Fanatics rave about it. Some people think it has less personality or plot than 90210. So what draws the audience in, besides the hot guys the WB will inevitably use in its casting?

Storyline. Plot. Romance. Alienation. Something anyone who survived high school can identify with. Great casting. M&M. Surprises at every turn. There are countless reasons (aside from the obvious reasons of Michael Guerin and Max Evans *g*). Each character has a unique and developed personality. They seem like real people. The plot is plausible--if you believe in the whole alien thing. It's enough to inspire a ton of fanfics and more websites. And it keeps drawing you deeper and deeper in, week after week.

The story: three alien children survived the Roswell crash of '47. Now, more than 50 years later, they've emerged from their incubation pods in the New Mexico desert and are attending West Roswell High School. Their secret is blown when Max Evans chooses to use his powers of healing to save the love of his life, Liz Parker. A roller-coaster ride takes off from there, trying to stay one step ahead of the enemy out to discover their secret.

Six teenagers, drawn together by a shared secret. Their world changes, and they come to need each other to survive. Passions run as high as the danger, and either could explode at any minute. Yet there's still time for infinite tenderness and discovering new friends.

Max, the quiet strength. Michael, the volatile passion. Isabel, seeking love and acceptance. Maria, bubbling laughter and deep-run loyalty. Liz, logical mind and protective heart. Alex, the watcher. It's the ties that form between the six, and the loves that develop: the someday love of Alex and Isabel, the sometimes love of Maria and Michael, and the predestined love of Max and Liz.

So if you tune in for the plot, or for the good-looking cast, enjoy one of the best shows of the new season. It's only getting better from here.
