How can you leave me standing
Alone in a world that’s so cold...

Maria DeLuca sat on her window seat, looking tearfully up at the familiar constellation in the night sky. It had been exactly one year since Michael Guerin had left with Max and Isabel Evans to go back to their home planet. They promised they would come back. But when?

Maybe I’m too demanding
Maybe I’m just like my father, too bold...

Liz Parker sat on the deck chair out on the roof of the Crashdown Café, gazing at the sky with false hope. Exactly one year, today. Would Max, her soulmate, ever return to her?

Maybe I’m just like my mother
She’s never satisfied...

Alex Whitman sat at his special spot. The spot where he, Liz and Maria had said goodbye to their extra-terrestrial loves and best friends. Life without Isabel felt so empty. When would all their lives be full again?

Why do we scream at each other?

Ever since their aliens had left them, the three friends had become distant. Almost as though each other’s presence was too much of a painful reminder of the times they’d shared when it was the six of them.

This is what it sounds like, when Doves Cry Yes, they cry. Oh they cry...

Max Evans watched Liz Parker through her bedroom window. The first time he’d seen her in a year. And, although he had been light years away, all he’d been able to think about was returning to Roswell. To Liz.

Dream if you can, a court yard
An ocean of violence and doom
Animals strike curious poses
They feel the heat
The heat between me and you...

Michael Guerin knocked softly on Maria DeLuca’s bedroom door, waiting impatiently so as he could take a lasting look at the face that he had missed so much over the past year. He just hoped it hadn’t been too long.

Maybe I’m just like my mother
She’s never satisfied
Why do we scream at each other
This is what it sounds like, when Doves Cry...

Isabel Evans stood behind Alex Whitman, watching sadly as his shoulders shook with every sob. She walked forward and wrapped her arms around him, the thing she’d wanted to do most for the past year.

How can you leave me standing
Alone in a world that’s so cold?

Liz could feel someone standing behind her. She turned and found herself gazing into Max’s soulful brown eyes, and a sob escaped her mouth. Tears began to stream down her face as Max came and wrapped his arms around her.

"I’ll never leave you again, Lizzie."

Maybe I’m just too demanding
Maybe I’m just like my father, too bold...

Maria opened her bedroom door, fighting to gain control of her emotions. But, when she saw Michael standing there, in the flesh, all her resolve flew out the window as she collapsed into his arms, letting the tears flow.

Maybe I’m just like my mother
She’s never satisfied...

Alex hugged Isabel tightly, never wanting to let her go again. Isabel sobbed in his arms, realising just how much she had missed everything. It was good to be home.

Why do we scream at each other?
This is what it sounds like
When The Dove’s Cry...

The End
